Tale of International Women's Day in India

On the occasion of International Woman day, A college girl was shot dead in daylight in National Capital New Delhi and after few hours a old aged woman was killed again in Delhi. A little back in past, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Tejendar Khanna had said that it has become a matter of pride for North Indian People when they break the law.

What I think is that those laws which are broken to tease and harm girls and women are neither a Matter of Pride nor it's the display of Manhood ; it's just a matter of immoral culture and bad upbringing that they received from their parents, family and genealogy.

Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister of our country, Pratibha Patil is the President of our Nation, Meera Kumar is Lok Sabha speaker, Sushma Swaraj is leader of Opposition, Mayawati is the Chief Minister of India's politically most powerful state and without Sonia Gandhi not a single decision can be taken in UPA Government. In spite of all this among the entire 365 days just one day is reserved for Women and even that day there was no importance was given to them. In the list of yesterday's tragic list; there is one more from Paali in Rajastan where a woman was ruthlessly beaten by two male police constables when she resisted to stop the demolition of her home. As per the law, a male Police Official has no right to beat a woman. Why to go so far in a suburban region of Rajsthan just have a look over nation Capital New Delhi where laws are ammended for women, is a place where elevating sexual crimes may entitle it as the National Rape Capital of India pretty soon. Yesterday, Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Sheila Dixit mentioned in a speech that the society's mentality towards woman in North India is having low morals. Well, if it's the topic of Delhi, Women feel more safer to work in  Kolkatta , Ahemdabad, Mumbai, Banglore or Chennai rather than Delhi. So is the sole reason is the attitude of North Indian men who feel proud in misbehaving with women and when they are caught they start pleading for excuses ?
A lot of surveys, studies and reports tells that situation of women in India is not so good. Almost half of the 1.2 billion population of our nation comprises of women. Among 71 crore voters, 34 crore voters are females. India has the highest female teenage population of the world which is around 20% of the world among which 56% are anaemic mostly due to lack of nutrition.
The Big Talks regarding equal rights for Women will not be successful till
  • The Women Reservation Bill is passed
  • The North Indian Male mentality will change
  • Quick and Strict attitude from Police in cases of Women Exploitation
Until the Society's attitude of considering Women as a commodity will change together with issuing of  Strict legal code of conduct regarding behavior towards women aren't implemented nothing is gonna change. Until some substantial change is not gonna took place, the words like "Woman's Day",
"Woman Liberalisation", "Women Empowerment" will remain just an excuse to conduct seminars in cities and deliver speeches on television.

Another news that highlighted Yesterday was the challenge game given by 5 Congress MLAs to Yoga Teacher Ramdev Baba. They agree to go for a Narco test on the condition Baba Ramdev will also go for a Narco Test so that the reasons for enormous wealth of Patanjali Trust is revelaed. Ramdev have stated many times that Narco test of politicians should take place so that black money of Nation can be revealed. These politicians are ready for test so Baba Ramdev should also go for test because it is the sole question of credibility.
The land of 33 crore Gods has now transformed into land of 33 lakh Babas and Gurus.
Saant.Baapu, Shri Shri, Rashtriya Saant, Guru Maharaj, Shree 108, Shree 1008
etc etc  are the fancy titles which these  preachers take who are either a Yoga Teacher or a self proclaimed expert on Religious Discourse or a Holy Tales teller. They promise of Happiness and Peace in Life . At times these preachers give chanamrit or bhabhoot(holy ash) as a token of their holy blessing. Chaitanji Maharaj, Ashutoshji Maharaj, Pilot Baba and so on ; each of them has a fan following and each of them has a tie up with a TV Channel. Among the devotees the masses are female followings. These Baba say big things on their platform but today on International Women's Day; I want to ask them that do ever any of them have motivated their audience to take a stand for daughter's education to fulfil her ambition so that the postiton of women can move ahead in family and society. Do any of them ever spoken on giving equal attention towards girl child or on abolition of disparity in behaviour towards daughter or dowry exploitation? Have they ever spoken to their devotees on concerns regarding depreciating sex ratio in society, or on the increasing misbehavior towards girls and women or concern over girl's health? Why don't these topics are included in there holy teachings ?
The female devotees of these Babas belong to middle or lower middle class group. The day this group got totally educated then they gonna choose their own path and will not listen to any Baba.
Swami Vivekananda has emphasised in several of this thoughts towards the importance of constant introspection and rectification. In other words he meant that
"Be your own Baba; because you know yourself the Best"
