Yet Another Wednesday

It’s now a tradition that right after bomb blasts in Mumbai or Delhi, News Channels start shouting फिर दहली मुंबई  or फिर  दहली दिल्ली . In reality life goes on, candles are lit and politicians get busy in visiting hospitals and making sympathy speeches. In today’s date how much rage has been accumulated for politicians was clearly visible when Rahul Gandhi faced wrath of angry victims' kin at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital when he went to meet the victims of the Delhi high court bomb blast. Undoubtedly the patients faced trouble due to his visit. On what account did Mr. Rahul Gandhi go to visit the victims? Because he is Congress General Secretary and Member of Parliament. Undoubtedly being son of Sonia Gandhi he possesses great political power but he doesn’t possess a representation from Government. Nowadays it’s been a fashion that just after such incidents, politicians and ministers start rushing to the hospitals for their attendance. They are accompanied by their party workers and supporters. Media also rushes to these hospitals as a part of their duty. By seeing the cameras, a lot of statements are addressed. L K Advani, Nitin Gadkari and V K Malhotra also performed this sympathy ritual together with their troupe. These people have definitely enhanced the troubles of hospital workers not eased by them. This is moreover a political tradition that is being followed from a long time.

My Question is why this can’t happens
  •  Politicians without giving any statement silently visit the victim’s home or those who are injured.
  •  Politicians donate blood on this occasion and motivate their party workers and supporters for it.
  •  Politicians ask their party workers not to come to follow them rather serve as volunteers to help the victims and hospital facility.
  • Politicians come forward for financial aid on party level without waiting for official government financial aid.
But such things never happen. This is not true that each politician reach at these spot to cry crocodile tears and such incidents do not made them grief stricken but this can be said most of the politicians try to seek "political gain in public pain".
There is nothing to say because the Home Minister himself has spoken that Delhi Police was on High Alert. Why not Delhi Police High Alert is made little more Higher, a little more active and agile.3 months 13 days ago on 25th May there was a similar blast outside Delhi High Court whose investigation is going on and today another blast piled up. Both were similar and moreover Police never try to differentiate these blasts.
The things which happen every time and now can be called "bomb blast rituals" :
  •   Initially off the record and then on the record the blast is declared to be Terrorist attack.
  • After few hours some terrorist group’s name is declared stating their involvement.
  • Next explosive chemical is told. Almost every time it is declared that it is Ammonium Nitrate later it is rectified with some other explosive chemical.
  • Nails and bearings are retrieved from the spot.
  • The explosive is either packaged inside a bag or suitcase.
  • Security Agencies claim that they knew it was coming.
But in spite of all these stuff no one knows who were involved in the blasts and no one gets caught. The carelessness of Government Machinery gets exposed every-time but it gets buried with the passage of time. After 25th May blast there was an order for installing CCTV camera but unfortunately those cameras got stuck in government files and red tapes.

Usually Delhi or Mumbai are on top lists of terrorist groups because a blast in these cities reaches across the world via New Channels because Delhi/Mumbai blasts are not like Kashmir or North East blasts where people are dying but attention is never given. Terrorist know that they can never beat Government with their tactics but can spread terror and for that bomb blast in a city like Delhi is the easiest medium.
We understand that Government can’t keep vigilance after each and every region but a little honest effort and terrorist themselves be terrorized. We don’t want to hear two words today: Condemnation and Resilience. They have become excuses for apathy and numbness. We just want an honest effort and nothing else.
Hope this wish come true.

Tale of International Women's Day in India

On the occasion of International Woman day, A college girl was shot dead in daylight in National Capital New Delhi and after few hours a old aged woman was killed again in Delhi. A little back in past, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Tejendar Khanna had said that it has become a matter of pride for North Indian People when they break the law.

What I think is that those laws which are broken to tease and harm girls and women are neither a Matter of Pride nor it's the display of Manhood ; it's just a matter of immoral culture and bad upbringing that they received from their parents, family and genealogy.

Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister of our country, Pratibha Patil is the President of our Nation, Meera Kumar is Lok Sabha speaker, Sushma Swaraj is leader of Opposition, Mayawati is the Chief Minister of India's politically most powerful state and without Sonia Gandhi not a single decision can be taken in UPA Government. In spite of all this among the entire 365 days just one day is reserved for Women and even that day there was no importance was given to them. In the list of yesterday's tragic list; there is one more from Paali in Rajastan where a woman was ruthlessly beaten by two male police constables when she resisted to stop the demolition of her home. As per the law, a male Police Official has no right to beat a woman. Why to go so far in a suburban region of Rajsthan just have a look over nation Capital New Delhi where laws are ammended for women, is a place where elevating sexual crimes may entitle it as the National Rape Capital of India pretty soon. Yesterday, Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Sheila Dixit mentioned in a speech that the society's mentality towards woman in North India is having low morals. Well, if it's the topic of Delhi, Women feel more safer to work in  Kolkatta , Ahemdabad, Mumbai, Banglore or Chennai rather than Delhi. So is the sole reason is the attitude of North Indian men who feel proud in misbehaving with women and when they are caught they start pleading for excuses ?
A lot of surveys, studies and reports tells that situation of women in India is not so good. Almost half of the 1.2 billion population of our nation comprises of women. Among 71 crore voters, 34 crore voters are females. India has the highest female teenage population of the world which is around 20% of the world among which 56% are anaemic mostly due to lack of nutrition.
The Big Talks regarding equal rights for Women will not be successful till
  • The Women Reservation Bill is passed
  • The North Indian Male mentality will change
  • Quick and Strict attitude from Police in cases of Women Exploitation
Until the Society's attitude of considering Women as a commodity will change together with issuing of  Strict legal code of conduct regarding behavior towards women aren't implemented nothing is gonna change. Until some substantial change is not gonna took place, the words like "Woman's Day",
"Woman Liberalisation", "Women Empowerment" will remain just an excuse to conduct seminars in cities and deliver speeches on television.

Another news that highlighted Yesterday was the challenge game given by 5 Congress MLAs to Yoga Teacher Ramdev Baba. They agree to go for a Narco test on the condition Baba Ramdev will also go for a Narco Test so that the reasons for enormous wealth of Patanjali Trust is revelaed. Ramdev have stated many times that Narco test of politicians should take place so that black money of Nation can be revealed. These politicians are ready for test so Baba Ramdev should also go for test because it is the sole question of credibility.
The land of 33 crore Gods has now transformed into land of 33 lakh Babas and Gurus.
Saant.Baapu, Shri Shri, Rashtriya Saant, Guru Maharaj, Shree 108, Shree 1008
etc etc  are the fancy titles which these  preachers take who are either a Yoga Teacher or a self proclaimed expert on Religious Discourse or a Holy Tales teller. They promise of Happiness and Peace in Life . At times these preachers give chanamrit or bhabhoot(holy ash) as a token of their holy blessing. Chaitanji Maharaj, Ashutoshji Maharaj, Pilot Baba and so on ; each of them has a fan following and each of them has a tie up with a TV Channel. Among the devotees the masses are female followings. These Baba say big things on their platform but today on International Women's Day; I want to ask them that do ever any of them have motivated their audience to take a stand for daughter's education to fulfil her ambition so that the postiton of women can move ahead in family and society. Do any of them ever spoken on giving equal attention towards girl child or on abolition of disparity in behaviour towards daughter or dowry exploitation? Have they ever spoken to their devotees on concerns regarding depreciating sex ratio in society, or on the increasing misbehavior towards girls and women or concern over girl's health? Why don't these topics are included in there holy teachings ?
The female devotees of these Babas belong to middle or lower middle class group. The day this group got totally educated then they gonna choose their own path and will not listen to any Baba.
Swami Vivekananda has emphasised in several of this thoughts towards the importance of constant introspection and rectification. In other words he meant that
"Be your own Baba; because you know yourself the Best"

No Work No Pay

Our Member of Parliaments make Constitutional Bills in our Parliament Sansad, It's an urge of every Indian today to all of these Parliamentarians to make a bill for themselves  "No Work  No Pay".
In our country it is tough to get a job , it's not easy. You got to make through a cut throat competition. In spite of Globalisation, unemployment has increased drastically. Job is obtained by different - different medium. At some places the employee's needs are taken care of. Facilities of health care, provident fund, bonus, maternity-leave,  pension etc are taken care of. Whereas at some places people just get daily wages while some not even the full money even after doing the entire task. A very large part of population survives by working on contract basis. But wherever you get job, it is always assumed that you will not be paid for doing nothing i.e No Work No Pay. From 9th of November, our Parliamentarians aren't working so why are they getting pay and allowance.

What happened on 9th of November was repeated same today also. Parliament was unable to run. Opposition is demanding for making a Joint Parliamentary Commission for Adarsh Housing Scam, CWG Scam and 2G - Spectrum Scam but Government is not ready for it. Every two days Government and Opposition have meetings but Parliament is not running. Neither the Government is ready to step back nor is the Opposition. The highest loss is being bear  by the tax payers due to adjournment of Parliament sessions.
  • An amount of 26,000 INR is spent on each Minute of Parliamentary Activity
  •  For one hour the above amount sums to 14 Lakh INR
  • A Full Day seesion takes 1 crore 55 Lakh INR
Parliament runs or not this amount is spent in any case. None of the Parliamentarian are bothered about this issue  because what pay they are "so called eligible" to get they will get in any circumstances.
Lets have look on the pay scale of these Nation builders
  • 50,000 INR as Basic Pay per month
  • During the time Parliament is running they get an allowance of 2000 INR daily
  • 45,000 INR as Constituency Allowance per month
  • 45,000 INR for Offical Expenses per month
  • 20,000 INR  per month is the Pension for parliamentarians
545 members in Lok Sabha and 245 members in Rajya Sabha, so you can imagine the expenses on these big people. Why there is no rule for them regarding  "No Work  No Pay" or may be creating a ballyhoo inside Sansad  is also a kind of work. Even after creating such a scene their allowance is guaranteed. Till all the parliamentarians reach the House, the session is already adjourned and they just need to sign on the attendance register to confirm their allowance. Due to this same trend Parliament was not able to run more than 30 hours during the first 8 days of the Budget session. Similarly in 41 hrs during Monsoon session  and 81 hours during Winter session were spent without any work. As per the norms, every year Parliament should run for minimum of 100 days but this is never achieved. Last year it ran for 64 days, for 48 days in 2004 and 46 days in 2008. The running period is decreasing slowly. In 50s and 60s it used to run for minimum 130 hours. In  1956 it ran for a 151 hours. As Parliament is getting constantly adjourned , 23 Bills of public interest are in pending state for approval. Few of those important Bills are :
  • Right for free and compulsory education for children amendment Bill
  • Women Reservation Bill
  • Prevention of Torture bill
  • The Waqf Amendment bill
Eight new bill are to be presented and discussed. Important among them are
  • Land Acquisition Bill
  • The Rehabilitation and Resettlement  Bill
  • Wild Life Protection Amendment Bill
  • The Bill to stop sexual harassment against Women in offices
  • Enemy Property Bill
But if the scenario continues then what will happen to these bills and what is the cure of this situation. These lawmakers definitely should make a law for themselves for No Pay when No Work. On the day parliament is adjourned then the allowances is cancelled and the equivalent salary is also deducted. To stop the parliamentary activity make be a democratic right but continuously interrupting the session doesn't make a  sense. there should be someone appointed who should be made responsible for such consistent adjournments.

If we look at the Opposition we can see there is no control from the high command. For instance on the order of Congress High Command within a period of few weeks two Chief Ministers were forced to abdicate their posts and new persons were appointed at their positions. On the other hand BJP High command have been frustrated and tired  by consistent shouting at their Chief Ministers but not even a stone was unturned whether it was Vasundhara Raje Scindia or it was Babulal Marandy or the current Karnatka CM Yeddurappa ; these people never care of the committee sitting in Delhi. If such is the potential of highest committee of the Opposition; how can they be expected to control their parliamentarians from wasting the House's precious time and public money.

The money which these parliamentarians are wasting comes from the tax paid by every Indian citizen who never gets the luxurious facility of Pay Without Work. It is their hard earned money. If the parliamentarians have a slightest respect for their Nation they have to break the impasse of adjournment of the Parliament for the interest of nation else Parliament will loose it's meaning  and the House that stand for the dignity of democracy will become the House of shame for democracy.

A Sincere Victory

After watching today's mandate, to say that the People of Bihar have spoken would be an understatement. They have yelled , shouted and with one unanimous resounding voice. A voice that cuts cast, religion and class. Nitish Kumar and company have marked a remarkably huge victory. Remarkable because Bihar has never seen an election like this before. A campaign that was remarkably mature because there was no populism , no ridiculous promises like free this, free that e.g. free rice, free electricity, loan waivers. The victory was based on solid substantive campaign. A water-shed election because it shows that in India you won election based on development  and progress. Good governance is good for elections in India. No longer the Indian Voter is interested in the divisive politics of cast and religion. A Water-Shed Election for Bihar and for India. It was an election that gives us hope.

Recently I checked a report by a Mumbai NGO that stated that Mumbai's four top pharmaceutical companies and two security agencies have more than 25 thousand Biharis working in them. From Noida everyday more than thousand money orders are sent to different regions in Bihar; remember money is send on daily basis. The State running on this Money Order Economy has once again selected Nitish Kumar with a hope that at last such a Bihar will be established with a potential and reputation that will bring back the natives who have left their families and lands in search for jobs.

In the last five year lots of accomplishments have been bagged by Nitish Kumar.
  • In four years around 1600 small and big bridges have been constructed
  • When India was facing recession during that time in Bihar, the automobile market grew by 45%
  • Economic growth climbed to 11%
  • Law and Order improved a lot that brought life to the business
  • As business started growing new Hotels, restaurants were open and Telecom sector made their entry
  • Roads were made longer. In 2005 there were just 384km of roads which stretched to 3475 km in the year 2010.
  • Land Reform Commission was set in Bihar which is trying to distribute the land ethically.

No doubts these jobs brought Nitish Kumar a humongous victory but this victory has brought up new challenges and greater benchmarks to set too.
  • 55% of Bihar population lives below the poverty line
  • Per capita income is extremely low i.e. Rs 13,959 yearly whereas India's per capita income is more than thrice of that figure which is Rs 44,345
  • Bihar suffers from extreme scarcity of electricity
  • Due to lower electric supplies neither the factories can run nor do the agricultural lands be irrigated.

Nitish Kumar has full five year from now to construct the building whose strong base he had already developed. How much have Bihar transformed the glimpse can be seen from Patna. Maurya Lok area in Patna looks no less than Vasant Vihar of Delhi. Frazer Road competes with Delhi's Connaught Place. A revolving restaurant has been opened in Patna where one needs referral to have seats there. But Patna is not the scale of the entire Bihar but the way Nitish Kumar got his mandate from every corner of Bihar, it seems everyone wants development like Patna and to accomplish this very reason Nitish Kumar have been awarded another five year term.

It's true this state has suffered the neglect of Central Government from decades but this mandate will empower the state's governing body to claim boldly now. An important aspect of Bihar is that it is one of the most politically dynamic region of the countries. It can create political  trends. In National Politics, the position of Nitish Kumar will heighten now which has more or less has become BJP branded or Congress Branded and may be there's a chance that Nitish Kumar might emerge as a pivotal player for Third Front in future.

Another remarkable thing that came into light in Bihar's election which was Female participation
Though Female Candidates have won at less places but in terms of giving votes, female voters have surpassed their males companions by registering their mass presence at polling booths . Among total female voters 54.44% marked their presence on the day of voting while 51.11% of male voters casted their votes. This change happened for the first time and it became possible because  there were tight arrangements during elections. All six phases of election went without any trouble except a couple of minor offences. In Bihar such thing happens very less. The Day Dreamers Laloo Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan have been swept away by the current mandate and this might mark the end of their political career. Condition of Congress is also not good , the rallies of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi were attended by masses with exceptional enthusiasm but that never got converted into votes. Biggest result was the humongous mandate which Nitish Kumar might not even have dreamt of.

This time the election were no doubt historical , mandate is also historical and such a large mandate has it's own issues and risks. The victorious MLAs will have all high hopes for being ministers. They would also hope to become chairman in Government Bodies and Corporations. After it's fabulous victory BJP also will not sit with no desire; they too will want their share in the governance that means that in the absence of opposition there is a risk of internal battles in JDU and BJP allies over the division of portfolios in coming future. Nitish Kumar should remain alert with this situation. Overall the Bihar State Assembly Elections 2010 Results are historical and is welcomed by all for the goodwill of future.

Dirt Flying Everywhere

Imagine for continuously few days NEWS channels are showing what Agriculture Minister did regarding cricket policies, what Agriculture Minister did regarding cricketers selection criteria, what Agriculture Minister did regarding promoting cricket in rural areas. After this you will certainly get a feeling why the situation of Agriculture and Cricket is like this in India.

Indian Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar yesterday held came after long long meeting and announced that whatever IPL decision are to be taken they will be decided by governing body; I will not interfere. I hardly remember what was the last time when he came after a meeting and gave a press conference to show his concern over increasing farmer suicides, concern over rising grain prices, concern over bitterness of sugar prices, concern over extra yield that is decaying outside warehouses. Indeed he and many of them are concerned about another yield; but this yield is not of grains and pulses that grow in field, this yield is of different thing ; it is of money that grows in cricket fields.
From past one week there has been a cleaning campaign, not of cleaning roads, not of cleaning dirty ponds and river shores, not of cleaning beaches but it is of cleaning of images on account of deeds done by people in our nation who are as being projected as modern statesmen and businessman. Shashi Tharoor said he has unconditional love and respect for Kerala and can do anything for it. He told he did to promote Kerala, he has nothing to do with personal monetary benefit from IPL. Vijay Mallya clarified his daughter works under Lalit Modi but she is his step daughter. Next Praful Patel says his daughter is too associated in IPL campaigning and works as intern but he has nothing to do with any benefit from IPL. Sharad Pawar's daughter clarifies their family never had any monetary benefit from IPL. Why we are provided with clarification, why we are being forced to show the intentions are earnest, why we are being forced to take this. Even if we think that wasn't there was any dirt that is being tried to cleaned forcefully , would the reality be changed ? These are people who are part of high elite societies that want to present their clean eyes before us. Why we are being forced to understand that there wasn't any mess. Even if we are forced to learn that will the reality would change? Absolutely not.
This time it will matter, and must too and public's response will come to them sooner or later in one form or other. It could be public's decision in elections or public frustration in violent form.

Well leaving the dirty politics; it is important also to have concern over dirt spreading in European skies from past 15 days. The volcanic eruption happened on a island in Iceland , the skies above it were utilized enormously for trans-Atlantic airlines. After the eruption happened enormously amount of shoot, dirt and ashes started spreading in skies like a enormous dense cloud. This affected airlines. The loss airlines companies are facing is even bigger than the one that occurred after stoppage of public airlines after 9/11 attack. More than 16 lac passenger's tickets have been canceled and enormous passengers are still stuck somewhere. Eruptions have stopped now but still it is risky. This is a message by nature that how cruel it can become. I am not saying eruptions are occurring due to some human activity but I am saying humans should give space for everything, we should give space for forests, we should give space for rivers, ponds, we should give air for volcanoes too. The sky above volcanoes should be left alone, they should not be used to enhance monetary benefits and utilized as air routes. So, volcanoes should be given some air to live. Already lots of hyped Global Environment Conferences were organized but when it was time for taking serious actions for future; human greed takes over everything.

I hope all dirt gets settled down as soon as possible.
